Welcome to Spring!  The change is in the air - can you smell it?  We will keep this newsletter brief, a little information on the latest offers regarding Superannuation Fund upgrades, new requirements for SMSF trustees, and also some Shelf Companies we have on offer.

New SMSF Deed of Variation Service
We are in the process of launching a new SMSF Deed of Variation Service, whereby we will be able to provide, in most circumstances, an SMSF deed of variation for a low price of $350. We are able to provide this through an arrangement with a well-regarded law firm, while we do most of the work (except for the legal work) in-house.

Also, if the deed you want varied was last prepared by NTAA Corporate, we can do the variation for $275!!

As this is a new service and we want everything to be exactly right, getting the deeds back to you may take a little longer than usual, so please let us know if your order is urgent.

Some of you may have already received a letter from us, informing you of this new deed of variation service, which included a list of the super funds which we have set up for your clients.

We would like to point out:

• If you have ordered the fund from us recently, the deed probably contains most, if not all, of the relevant changes and may not need to be updated. To see the recent changes to the superannuation legislation click here, alternatively, call us to see if you have our latest deed; and
• The special price of $275 for varying deeds previously ordered through us will not necessarily apply automatically. To get this special price, you will need to order the variation on our new instruction form (which you can find at http://www.interprac.com.au/html/corporate_index.htm) and indicate that you want the $275 price.

SMSF Trustee Declarations
The new Simpler Super regime actually went beyond just tax-free super, and introduced a whole raft of changes.

One of these is that, where someone becomes a new trustee (or director of a corporate trustee) of a self managed super fund (SMSF) on or after 1 July 2007 (whether or not the fund existed before 1 July 2007), then the individual must sign a new “trustee declaration”. This declaration must be signed within 21 days of becoming a trustee or director of a corporate trustee of a SMSF (though it does not need to be lodged with the ATO).

The declaration, and a guide to completing it, can be obtained from http://www.ato.gov.au/content/downloads/n71089.pdf.  It should be read in conjunction with the “Self managed super funds – key messages for trustees” fact sheet, obtainable from http://www.ato.gov.au/content/downloads/n71128.pdf.

Note: The declaration does not need to be completed for individuals appointed as a trustee or director before 1 July 2007.

Shelf Companies
For those interested, we have four shelf companies in stock that were set up before the end of June 2007.

The shelf companies are registered with the ACN as the name of the company, for example: A.C.N. 111 222 333 Pty Ltd.  Each company also holds 12 shares at $1.

There are two different options to order these:

1. Tell us you would like to order one of these companies, keep the name that’s already registered and request changes to the directors and shareholders - $610 for the company and $160 for the changes made.

2. Tell us you would like to order one of these companies, change the name that’s registered to one of your own choice and request changes to the directors and shareholders - $610 for the company register, $470 to change the company name, and $160 for the other changes.

Please note that we do not ordinarily provide previously-registered shelf companies, and that this is an exception to our normal product range.
